Ven and his chicks

MWF wants me to pick out females from games that I find cute, or "hot", or whatever. Before I do, I'd like to say this: to any simple-minded viewers that like to rant about "sick bastards who like drawings", get over your narrow-minded insecurities. Hopefully someday you'll understand the phrase "life imitates art", and realize that there's nothing wrong with liking game females, but plenty of things wrong with attacking someone over something that cheers them up.

Now then, on with the show...

Roll Casket & Tron Bonne - Rockman Dash 2 (Megaman Legends 2)

Yeah, there's a bit of irony in me picking Roll in this...but no one had better bring it up. I don't care for the Roll from the original Rockman...she's drawn far too young anyway. But the new Roll with the spiky hair from Rockman Dash 2 is cool. And Tron is great too. They have traits you really can't find in any other game female. They both dress in outfits unique to the Rockman Dash series, and have spiky hairstyles no other girl has. And while they both want to help Rockman, Roll does it with quiet, friendly help, whereas Tron wants some kind of twisted love slave. There's just too much cool, cute, and funny about these two...to list it all would take pages. It's no small wonder they have mysteriously shown up in the Capcom "VS" series. Go play Rockman Dash 2/Megaman Legends 2 if you haven't yet.

Cham-Cham - Samurai Spirits (Samurai Shodown 2)

To quote one of my friends, regarding SNK programmers choosing character lineups for the Samurai Spirits series: "Why the hell did they even use Tam-Tam when they had her?" Not only is she a good fighting game character, but she's really cute in an unorthodox way. From her oversized boomerang to the whole cat motif, like most girls on this list, she's truly unique. A lot of her charm comes in things she says. She swears a lot, but it certainly doesn't sound like swearing when coming from such a sugary female voice. And then there's all those hoots, howls, and meowing noises...coming from anyone else, they'd sound weird, but all these things fit together in Cham-Cham. And since it's an SNK character, there's extra material on soundtrack CDs, like the "Mysterious Banana" song. If only there was some way to get rid of her damned mighty monkey-morphin' brother...

Kasumi Toudou - The King of Fighters '99 - Evolution

The DC revision of The King of Fighters '99 houses my favorite version of Ryuuhaku Toudou's daughter. Combining the skills of her father, and Geese Howard's annoying, offense-screwing counters, she's a force to be reckoned with...and she's pretty cute, too. If you run back to Art of Fighting 3, she had the funniest win pose as well--she flips through her English translation book, and stammers out an odd "Come back when you grow up!" It's a pity that wasn't used in every game she was in...and it's also ironic that Kasumi, with her little translation book, speaks better English than Blue Mary and Terry combined. But we all know they speak Engrish in Southtown, anyway. In any case, Kasumi is great. She chastises Shingo, helps her dad look cool in CVS2, and even makes fun of Ryu with her win pose. She's a joy to have on your side, and a terror as an opponent. First she beats you, then makes fun of you. Go Kasumi.

Athena Asamiya - Capcom VS SNK 2

Lots of people love to hate Athena. And for a long time, I did too. I never really cared for any of her King of Fighters incarnations, and I still don't. But then CVS2 showed up, and Capcom overhauled her entirely. Her two win poses, which were annoying in the early KOFs, are now animated as they should have been, and finally paired with decent voice clips. Athena was always too serious in KOF, but in CVS2, she's just cute, carefree and happy. I think she should have always been like that, in every game. Maybe it's Athena through Kensou's eyes...if KOF '98 is Shingo's dream, maybe CVS2 is Kensou's?

Lei-Lei - Vampire Hunter (Night Warriors)

Known as Hsien-Ko in the states, she's another unique character you can't find anywhere else. There's something cool about the blue skin, and the big, baggy sleeves. Like Cham-Cham, though, her not-so-desirable sibling is always around in the form of a piece of paper...and that charm is all that's keeping Lei-Lei animated. And after seeing Lei-Lei in human form, in Street Fighter Zero 2 and the end of Vampire Savior, the Chinese ghost form is definitely better. Oh well. Beware of spiked balls falling from the sky.

Akira Kazama - Moero! Justice Gakuen (Project Justice)

Ah, a girl with a big brother that doesn't suck...although he's certainly the most fearable big brother of them all. Akira has great character, with her tough exterior that certainly doesn't run to her core. She's mean at times, but when around Daigo, or friends, she mellows out a bit. Yet her appearance doesn't change...it's cool to see a girl that can be nice, on rare occasion, while almost always wearing spiked leathers and a biker helmet. Can't judge a book by its cover. Oh, and she has cool eyebrows, too.

Ursula - Breath of Fire IV

There aren't enough female characters with guns. I just like the way Ursula shoots things, doesn't take any crap, and yet has a deathly fear of lice. She has such a cool appearance with the makeup, the baggy pants, and the tail. And she's the only RPG character I feel warrants making this list. While Square's characters come together to make a good story (sometimes), they don't stand all that well on their own. Ursula does. I hope she's in MVC3.

Amy Rose - Sonic Adventure

Before you say anything, I'm not advocating impure thoughts about hedgehogs. I'm just mentioning Amy Rose because she's a tremendously funny female character. I figured she deserved mentioning, because despite her not-so-humanoid appearance, she's cute (just not in a physically attractive way) and incredibly funny, and she totally stole the show in Sonic Adventure, in my opinion. After the whole Super Sonic thing was done, the only thing I kept remembering was Amy Rose's colorful commentary, scolding robots who aren't nice to birds, and hedgehogs who run out on her. And she did a lot of talking to the camera, too. I've seen very few characters in games that do that. She could have saved Sonic Adventure 2's bad plot if they had given her more than, say, THREE lines. She's that cool.

Well, that's it...the cutest, hottest, loveliest girls in video games...in my opinion, of course. Now, if only they could all come together to kick the living shit out of Choi Bounge...
